Summer Cleanse Program & Cookies-n-Cream Green Smoothie Recipe (Vegan, DF, GF)

Whew! It feels like the last couple months have been a whirlwind, and it’s finally letting up!

You haven’t heard from me much lately as I’ve been extremely busy keeping up with my personal life. In the last six weeks I’ve had seemingly endless celebrations for birthdays of three children (including two with monumental birthdays) and my hubby, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, a high school graduation and our anniversary. Some of those birthdays required not one, but two parties as we often do “kid parties” and “family parties” for birthdays. In addition to all that we had, of course, all the regular activities related to the end of the school year – home school testing and completing/organizing work for our progress appointments; a sports awards ceremony, a drama awards ceremony, field day activities, and other miscellaneous end-of-the-school-year parties and trips.

It seems like EVERYTHING involved food, and I’m not talking about the healthy kind. I can only speak for myself, but I’ve had so many types of cakes, chips, dips, sauces, breads, drinks, and desserts that were special and absolutely delicious, but nonetheless full of empty calories and not the best for achieving my health goals. There was generally healthy food available, but in the face of all the other “treats” I often chose more of the less-than-the-best options. I found myself munching on things I wouldn’t normally eat, snacking when I wasn’t hungry, and just generally out of a good routine and habits.  Add to that my tendency to overeat anyway, especially under stress, and you’ve got a recipe for disaster. Did I mention that I like to eat? And that there have been lots of leftovers?

Celebrating events and milestones is so important and fun. It’s one of things that makes our lives meaningful, and I loved every minute of it, but seriously, enough is enough for a little while. It’s all about balance, baby.

All that is behind us now, and I’m ready for some summer cleansing.

A cleanse by any name is still a cleanse.

Whatever you want to call it, I’m ready for it.

How has your spring been? I’m sure it’s been hectic too as everything wraps up for the summer. It seems to just be the way it is this time of year.

Here’s the good news! In between celebrations, I’ve been also been working on a very special program to share with you for the summer, a program to cleanse our bodies, eliminate toxins and allergens, and refresh our minds and bodies. I need it, and I’m sure I’m not the only one.  I’m working hard and can’t wait to share it with you very soon! Stay tuned  . . .

Cookies n Cream Green Smoothie - vegan, dairy free, gluten free

In the meantime, I wanted to share a recipe with you for a smoothie. Smoothies are ONE THING I’ve done right lately. Sometimes they don’t necessarily “sound good”, but always after I made one and sipped on it, it was like a breath of fresh air and new life for my body. Greens are usually in my smoothies. What an easy way to pack in a bunch of nutrients in a way that our bodies can easily assimilate! I hope you enjoy this recipe for a Cookies-n-Cream Green Smoothie as you wind down for summer. I hope you enjoy and are deeply nourished by it!
