Raw Green Soups for Healthier Cells

Smoothies don’t always have to be sweet! When they are made with vegetables and are savory, they are usually called soups, but it’s basically the same idea as a smoothie. Raw green soups are packed with phytonutrients to help your cells stay healthy. Your cells are constantly producing toxic waste as a byproduct of normal functions. Without the proper phytonutrients (only found in whole plant foods) the toxins are unable to be removed as God intended. Raw green soups and smoothies are a simple way to help the body detox gently and naturally.

Savory Raw Green Soup

Ingredients:

  • 1 large cucumber, seeded (and peeled if it’s not organic or if you don’t have a heavy duty blender)
  • 1-2 large kale leaves, stem removed
  • 1-2″ chunk of red onion
  • juice of one lime
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 1/4 red pepper
  • 2 cups savory broth of choice (I used 1 savory tea bag plus 1-2 tsp. veggie broth paste steeped in about 1/2 hot water for several minutes, then added 1+ 1/2 cups cold water to cool it down before adding it to the blender so it wouldn’t “cook” the veggies)
  • 1/2 avocado
  • cayenne pepper
  • sea salt

Directions:

  • Blend everything except the avocado in a VitaMix or high-powered blender until smooth
  • Add the avocado and blend just enough to incorporate it; otherwise it will get a little weird and frothy.
  • Top with a little cayenne pepper and sea salt, if desired.
